Atoms & molecules

Look if you want to find the valency first you have to find the atomic number,

I.e. Nitrogen's atomic number is 7

Then you have to find the last electrons or the velenc electrons in the outer most shell.

The electronic configuration of N is (2,5)

So N has 5 electrons in its outer most shell.
It has to be 8 to be in the nobel gas state,
So the Valency of nitrogen is 3,
ok got the point.

Now CCl4 has Cl and C
C has valency 4 and chlorine 1
Here there is just 1 carbon and 4 chlorine
So it is completely neutral.

Carbonate(CO3) a radical.
Has a valency of 2

OH has 1,it's also a radical.

K has valency 1 (electronic configuration 2,8,8,1)

Now how to find atomic number and mass
Very simple,

Just add the numbers of proton present in an atom.
Similarly add the number of proton and neutron and you will get atomic mass.

That's it
Hope it helped ❤(ӦvӦ。)
