Hey there!!
Down here ⏬

• L.S.A = Lateral surface area
• T.S.A = Total surface area.

> How to identify whether the question I asking to find L.S.A or T.S.A ?

• L.S.A is the area of all regions except the base
• T.S.A is the total area of the solid figure.

> Type of questions for L.S.A

•Question may come like excluding the base.
• Flower vase. ( in dat case, L.S.A + area of plane fig.)
• Area of Walls

> Type of questions in T.S.A

• Find the total surface area
• find the area of the room

[ First, understand the question clearly, you may automatically know what to do - L.S.A or T.S.A - this is the easiest way ;p ]

Hope it helps. ♥

heya!

here's ur answer...

★LSA also called CSA. it means the area of faces except top and base.

FULL FORM OF LSA - LATERAL SURFACE AREA AND CSA'S IS CURVED SURFACE AREA

★whereas TSA means the total area of all the faces.

FULL FORM OF TSA - TOTAL SURFACE AREA

→examples to find LSA (CSA):-

1. if it's to find the area of the surface of a hollow cylinder. then u will use CSA means curved surface area. and it's formula is 2πrh.

2. when u have been asked to find the cost of painting a hut , u will use CSA or LSA as in the top there will be roof and u can't paint it's bottom. if it is in the shape of cuboid then u will use 2h(l+b) and if it's cube then it's formula will be 4a² where a is the length of the side.

→examples of TSA:-

1. when it's asked to find the area of a sheet required to make a cubical or cuboidal box, then u will use TSA. formula for cuboid is 2(lb+bh+lh) and for cube is 6a² and a is the length of the side.

2. it has been asked to find the area of colour paper to cover a cylindrical box then u will use TSA. formula for cylinder is 2πr(h+r)

★there is one more formula which is CSA+1 base.

it include the area of CSA and 1 base.

→examples for CSA+1 base:-

1.u have been asked to make a open box. u will use CSA+1 base. formula for cube=5a² and for cuboid is 2h(l+b)+lb

CSA+1 base formula is not necessary u can also find it's area by some other methods.

hope this helps...!
