In a sentence first you need to identify the two finite verbs...

when u find that there are two sentences then look at the meaning of the sentences...

U will find that one of the sentence depends on another sentence for its meaning.

The clause that depends on another clause to complete its meaning is known as subordinate clause.

The clause that is independent even without the subordinate clause is known as main clause ...

HINT: THE CLAUSE COMING AFTER THE SUBORDINATOR IS ALWAYS A SUBORDINATE CLAUSE.
