this is one of the most confusing part of the statistics in the view of a student.
well,to understand whether a question needs to be solved by using the assumed mean method; you need to first check whether the product of frequency and deviation is getting completely divided by the class size.
if it does then,you can opt this method or else use the shortcut technique.
[Note:if it is no where mentioned in the question then it is upto you ,which method you will be using and for this no marks will be deducted]
