How to identify the bond is ionic or covlent bond

when there is mutual sharing of electrons we called it covalent bonding.......
when there is transferring of electrons we call it ionic bond or electrovalent bonding.....

a ionic bond is between a metal and nonmetal and covalent bond is between 2 nonmetals. To identify them is to look at the periodical table and it will tell you which element or compound is a ionic or covalent bond.
