An object in a sentence is the entity that is acted upon by the subject.

Example: Tom studies Math, here Tom is subject and Math is object.

Transitive and intransitive sentences require, their respective verbs.

A transitive verb has two characteristics.

1- It's an action verb i..e a doing word, which shows action

Example: kick, paint, write, eat, etc.

2- It must have a direct object, something or someone who receives the action of the verb.

However, intransitive, are some verbs, such as arrive, go, lie and die.

In these it is impossible for a direct object to follow.

EXAMPLE OF THESE:

1- transitive: The speaker discussed different marketing strategies in the video.

this is not transitive: The speaker discussed in the video.

The verb discuss over here requires an object (different marketing strategies).

There is compulsion to state what the speaker discussed.

Otherwise this becomes intransitive, "The speaker discussed in the video. "
