How to locate √5 on a number line

draw a no. line
marks the units
from 0 (zero) draw a altitude measures 2 units
and on the no. line unit 1 is the base .
joined them then the hypotenuse is =√5
measures the hypotenuse by compass
from 0 take the centre draw the circle on the no. line
your root 5 is ready

first draw a line with any measure then make points on it with a distance of 2cm. Then draw right angle with protractor on point +1 and cut the arm with Compass of 2cm (arm mean the side above the line u drawn). Then join the point to 0(zero)then we get one right angle triangle then again draw right angle at the point where you cut 1st at 1st right angle then cut that arm of that angle also by keeping 2cm do like this till u get
 \sqrt{5}
then with compass u draw a arc (that want to meet the line u drawn 1st) by a point (that point is the point of side of a root fives right angle's arm which is meeting the line u drawn). The point where the arc meet the line u drawn 1st that is root 5.
