We know that when a ray of light passes through a glass prism, it deviates from its path and bends towards the base of the prism. The deviation produced in the light ray depends upon the refractive index of the glass. Greater the refractive index , greater will be the deviation . If the ray passing through the prism is of white light the deviation in the rays of light of different colours present in it will also be different.
