you can round a number to the nearest thousand by seeing the digit in the hundreds place , if it is 5 or more then you add a thousand to it.
if it is less than 5, you let the thousands digit stay the same

For example, 6424 rounded to the nearest thousand is 6000. Numbers that have the last three digits of 500 or more should be rounded up to the next even thousand.
