how to see if water has salt without tasting it?

Smell, Alkalinity Test, pH test in general will give you a good idea, measuring how much salt you can dissolve into a specific amount of it, take some of it and boil off the water to see if salt remains...

I’m sure there’s a few more but those are the ones that came to mind. In general, I’d just smell it.
