You have to divide the numerator and denominator by any number, (but they both have to be divided with the same number) until they can't be divided. Then you get a simplified fraction. e.g. 12/36 = 12 ÷ 2/ 36 ÷ 2 = 6/18 = 6 ÷ 3/ 18 ÷ 3 = 2 / 6 = 2 ÷ 2/ 6 ÷ 2 = 1/3 ...
