Here is your answer;

To Factorize : 

2x² - x - 6 using splitting the middle term.

Solution,

Here let the roots be a & b.

Then, a + b  =  coefficient of x . & a × b = Coefficient of x² × Constant.


Here, a + b = -1 & a×b = -12.

So, a & b are -4 & +3.

Then,

2 x^{2} -x-6 = 2x^{2} -4x +3x -6

⇒ 2x(x-2)+3(x-2) = (2x +3) (x - 2)

Therefore (2x+3) (x-2) is the factorized form.
