SOLUTION:

(1/4) = (1/2)^y

(1/2)^2 = (1/2)^y

Since the bases are same so we can write,

2 = y

y = 2

Hence, the value of y is 2

(1/4) = (1/2)^y

= (1/2^y)

therefore;

4 = 2^y

2^2 = 2^y

therefore;

y= 2
