Before going to solve the problems related to combination of capacitors, first we have to understand the combination.

There are two types of combination of capacitors. One is called series combination of capacitors and second is called parallel combination of capacitors.

First we have to identify which capacitors are connected in series and which are connected in parallel.

After getting the idea about the combination, we have to calculate the equivalent capacitance.

The equivalence capacity for parallel connection is calculated as follow-

Let us consider three capacitors which are connected in parallel with each other.

Let they are denoted as  C_{1} ,C_{2}\ and\ C_{3} \ respectively

The equivalence capacitance is calculated as-

                                C_{equi} =C_{1} +C_{2} +C_{3}

If there are n number of capacitors which are connected in parallel ,then the equivalent capacity will be obtained by simply adding them.

Let these capacitors are connected in series now.

The equivalence capacity is calculated by this formula-

                   \frac{1}{C_{equi}} =\frac{1}{C_{1}}+ \frac{1}{C_{2}}+ \frac{1}{C_{3}}

In this way, we can solve the problems related to the combination of capacitors.
