Polynomials are expressions in which the all the variables have a whole number as their exponent.
- The power of variables is always a whole number in a polynomial.
The above two examples are polynomials as the variables(x and y) have a whole number (0, 1, 2, 3, ...) as their exponent (power).
Power of x is -1; (). -1 is not a whole number. So, this is not a polynomial.
(Note that 1/x = )
So, you can easily identify which of the given expressions are polynomials or not. You can solve the exercise yourself and check the answers.
