Half of the number = $\dfrac{1}{2}$x

Half of the number plus 5 = $\dfrac{1}{2}$ + 5

Given, their sum is 11


According to the question,

$\dfrac{1}{2}$x + 5 = 11

Multiply both the sides by 2,

➾ x + 10 = 22

Move the constant to the rught,

➾ x = 22 - 10

Calculate,

➾ x = 12




∴ $\sf{The \: number \: is \: 12}$



Verification :-

$\dfrac{1}{2}$x + 5 = 11

➾ $\dfrac{1}{2}$× 12 + 5 = 11

➾ 6 + 5 = 11

➾ 11 = 11

∴ LHS = RHS ✔✔
