Let the number be x

Half of the number = \dfrac{1}{2}x

Half of the number plus 5 = \dfrac{1}{2} + 5

Given, their sum is 11

According to the question,

\dfrac{1}{2}x + 5 = 11

Multiply both the sides by 2,

➾ x + 10 = 22

Move the constant to the rught,

➾ x = 22 - 10

Calculate,

➾ x = 12

\sf{The \: number \: is \: 12}

Verification :-

\dfrac{1}{2}x + 5 = 11

\dfrac{1}{2}× 12 + 5 = 11

➾ 6 + 5 = 11

➾ 11 = 11

∴ LHS = RHS ✔✔
