how to solve x^2+px+q=0

Hi ,

x² + px + q = 0

x² + px = - q

x² + 2 × x × p/2 = - q

x² + 2× x × p/2 + ( p/2)² = ( p/2 )² - q

( x + p/2 )² = p²/4 - q

( x + p/2 )² = ( p² - 4q )/4

( x + p/2 ) = ± √ [ ( p² - 4q )/4 ]

x = -p/2 ± √( p² - 4q )/2

x = [ ( -p ± √(p² - 4q ) ]/2
