How to solve (x-4)²=169

You simply square root it on both sides.
 \sqrt{(x - 4) {}^{2} } = \sqrt{169}
When we solve this we obtain
x - 4 = +-13
Therefore x = 17 when it is positive 13.
However if the value is taken to be - 13 then the value of x will be - 9

Hey friend here is your answer,
taking root both sides,
(x-4)=+(-)13
if (x-4)=+13 then x=13+4
x=17
and if (x-4)=-13 then
x=-13+4
x=-9
so answers are 17 &-9
