untouchability is a practice that was practised since time immemorial.it came up in the minds of people on reading religious books like bhagwad gita. I am not complaining about the religious book but it is true that the roots of untouchability have arosen from the religious book.for example - it is reffered in the gita that the brahmins are the uppermost and respected people of the society whereas the shudras were considered as slaves and low class. that is why the people of the upper class exploited and molestated the people of the upper class.however the ideologies of the people changed in the 20th century because of the increased competition in every walks of life .the Britishers were not at all good and came to India for capturing the country but they were very civilised and they introduced some reforms which were aimed at improving the condition of the people, this included the ban of untouchability by promoting people of lower class to sit with the people of upper class in the compartments of the railway coach.
