to test hydrogen gas we take a burning candle near to test tube then if it gives pop sound then it is hydrogen gas.

The gases evolved during the electrolysis of water hydrogen and oxygen we know that hydrogen burns with a Pop sound so on bringing a burning candle near the cathode the flame will start burning with a Pop sound this indicates the presence of hydrogen. And when the burning candle is brought near the anode the flame starts burning vigorously this indicates the presence of oxygen Hope its helpful
