Answer:

Dear Students,

I am writing this letter in the hopes that I can help you understand where I am, as your teacher during social distancing, and where I hope we can meet.

There are no adjectives I can use to describe to you how awful, how painful, how unnatural this “distance learning” is for me, as much as I assume it is for you. I have no shame in sharing with you that I have had tears in my eyes on more than one evening since schools closed simply because I miss seeing you in class each day.

I became a teacher for many reasons, but mostly because I enjoy our interaction: our discussion and our debate, that helps me teach you the knowledge you will need to become the best person you can be, and in which you teach me to become a better instructor.

Distance learning has presented many challenges for you and your family. The process of logging in to a device to access information I need to equip you with, and then submitting your work via a similar process is a challenge. But please know that I am trying to provide you with learning opportunities. I can only hope you will attempt to access and complete these in the best way you can.

This is to say nothing of those students and their families who have the most significant needs — our special education students. To those students and their families, I can only say: do what you can, and understand that we are with you. We’re all doing the best we can with the situation we find ourselves in. Every day is difficult for us, as special education teachers, too. Try to celebrate the small victories. Try to minimize the struggles.

This is unnatural. This is unwanted. But this is necessary.

I want you to know that I have been, and will continue, doing the absolute best I can to provide you with a meaningful education from afar. I along with many other teachers are working far beyond a typical work day to prepare video lessons, provide electronic support, reconfigure the lessons to adapt them for distance learning, and trying to do whatever else possible to make sure that you get the best access to education.

I miss you all terribly. Every school day is a challenge for me, much as it is for you.

So let’s continue to tackle this challenge together — I’ll keep posting assignments, and you do your best to complete them. I’ll keep posting videos, and you keep on watching. I’ll be available, however I can be virtually, to guide you.

Explanation:

Hope, this will help you.
