How to write child care leave ?

Hi

I am currently working in a Govt. Registered Educational Institution as a Lecturer. I was on maternity leave from 11.04.2012 to 27.08.2012 for a period of 135 days, as my child is very young am not in a position to leave her alone at home and work, i would like to extend my maternity leave for 1.5 yrs. As per latest amended maternity norms(dated 1.04.2012) in our state(Karnataka ) maternity leaves have been extended to 180 days, also as per sixth pay commission rule their is a provision for childcare leave for up to 2 yrs. I have submitted my leave request for extension also i have mentioned that i shall commit for unpaid leave for 1.5yrs, till now their is no fruitful response from my organization to my letter. Kindly let me know whether i am entitled to take unpaid leave for 1.5 yrs, also let me know if i can claim my maternity benefits if i temporarily quit my job.
