This I have read in the book Tell Me Why?
The Universe is the result of an explosion called the Big Bang ,this explosion occurred about 14 billion years ago. When this happened it let a large amount of energy .This energy keeps the Universe expanding.
Also many scientists believe that there is no beginning or end of the Universe.

Billions and billions of years ago thir was a gigantic explosion called the BIG BANG and this caused the birth of the universe.
