How was a nation visualized in 18th and 19th century in Europe ? Explain with the help of two suitable examples.

During th 19th century,nationalism emerged as a force which brought about sweeping changes in the political world of EUROPE.
1. Nation
was viewed as long past of sacrifice and devotion. People had common identity. It was away from concept of religion and caste.
2. Nation had its own indentity and people living within it have liberty and faternity.

Ex 1.
France introduced itself as the first nation to adopt liberty policy and it wanted to make other nations free too.
      2. Italy knew that to become a super power it has to merges and unite 
together.

Nations in the 18th and 19th century were visualized by the artists in a unique manner. They represented the nation as a person or a human being.The nations were mainly potrayed as female figures. The woman that was chosen to personify the nation was not any particular existing women in reality. It was just used as an entity to give nations a concrete form. The female figure became an allegory of the nation.
