shehnai was different from pungi. Pungi gives unpleasant sound so the emperor banned the pungi . But shehnai gives auspious sound now a days they are using in temples and marriage. shehnai is made up of a bamboo stem with seven holes on it. the opening and closing the holes gives a auspious sound. It is named as shehnai.

➡Sehnai has a better tonal quality than pungi. It a natural hollow stem pipe with holes on its body and is longer and broader than the pungi. Shehnai is, in a way, an improvement upon the pungi.
