Alauddin Khalji was an ambitious and powerful ruler. To fulfill his ambition he needed a very large and strong army so he made some reforms to maintain his army. (1) He maintained a descriptive roll of every soldier. (3) Regular salaries were given to the soldiers directly by the state.
