How was kezia farher differ from macdonald

on one side there was Kezia's father who seemed to be very strict and maintained a distance from her, he was also not able to spend time with Kzia due to burden of work. On the other side there was Mr. MacDonald who was very friendly and helpful. He used to play and spend time with his 5 children (maybe he did have that much work)
