Shifting cultivation practised by the tribes by following reasons.

  1. They clear a patch of land .
  2. They produce cereals and other food crops to sustain their family.
  3. when the fertility of soil decrease,the Farmers Move towards to another land.
  4. They clear another fresh patch of land for cultivation.

shifting cultivation is also called slash and burn cultivation.the khonds do this type of cultivation. this type of cultivation is done on small patches of land. in this cultivation the tribes cut down the trees and burn them . then the add the ashes to the soil to increase its fertility tgen they crow potatoes,maize etc. when the soil loses its fertility they move on another land
