Chola kingdom was divided into six provinces , Which are known as Mandalam.

Kottam was the sub unit of Mandalam.

Nadu , Kurram and Gram was the sub unit of kottam

The smallest unit of administration was Gram Sabha.

The assembly of Nadu was Nattar and the unit of town have been called as Nagartar.

Village representative were regularly appointed every year.

The Cholas set up a highly efficient system of administration. The empire was divided in to provinces called Mandalams, The Mandalams were further divide into Districts called Nadu. Each Nadu consists of a group of villages called Urs. Princes were appointed as governors of Mandalams.
