The first noble gas compound was prepared by Neil Bartlet,at the university of british columbia.

He first prepared a red coloured compound [O2]+ [PtF6]-.He then observed that Xe(Xenon a noble gas] had the same first ionisation enthalpy as that of Oxygen,so he thought to replace oxygen with xenon in the.compound,and was finally successfull. He formed a compound [Xe]+[PtF6]- by mixing PtF6 and xenon.
