The french society was divided into three estates. 1st estate Clergy which were church officials. 2nd estate Nobility who were kings and queens. 3rd estate Commoners who were either lawyers, merchants, big businessmen, court officials, shoe makers, landless labours, peasants. The upper two estate enjoyed the support of each other and dominated 3rd estate. the upper two estate has 60 percent of the land whereas the third estate has only 40 percent of the land whereas the population of upper two estate was just only 10 percent whereas the population of third estate was 90 percent.
