The heart of postmaster brimming with sympathy for Ali. When postmaster's daughter was sick and he was not receiving her letter, he got stressed and felt uncomfortable. Then only he could understand Ali's suffering from last long five years from this pain. Then only he felt sypathetic towards Ali.

In the beginning he was an arrogant and self centered person ,but complete transformation of his heart take place when he found himself at the same position as Ali for his daughter. Which change his attitude towards the Ali and regret for the way that he treated Ali.
