The church influenced the medieval life in following ways : -

☪ The church in the middle ages ruled in tandem with the prevailing government.

☪ In the start of the 10th century, states such as the modern day Vatican were completely ruled by the Pope.

☪ The Pope also claimed the authority to replace and choose the Kings of Western Europe. Example- Gregory VII was one of the strongest Popes of the middle ages.

☪ The church played a great role in urging the church and Christians to seize back the Holy city of Jerusalem from the Turkish Muslims.

☪ Many people aspired to serve in the monasteries as monks and nuns.

☪ During the medieval times, It was the Church which looked after the spiritual welfare of the society and most people followed its lead.
