How the church influenced medieval life?
The middle ages was a hard time marked by wars in which millions of lives were lost. The church influenced the medieval life in following ways : -
☆ The church in the middle ages ruled in tandem with the prevailing government.
☆ In the start of the 10th century, states such as the modern day Vatican were completely ruled by the Pope.
☆ The Pope also claimed the authority to replace and choose the Kings of Western Europe. Example- Gregory VII was one of the strongest Popes of the middle ages.
☆ The church played a great role in urging the church and Christians to seize back the Holy city of Jerusalem from the Turkish Muslims.
☆ Many people aspired to serve in the monasteries as monks and nuns.
☆ During the medieval times, It was the Church which looked after the spiritual welfare of the society and most people followed its lead.

The church in the middle ages was so powerful that it had its own set of rules and a large budget too.But within the Church, there was a certain hierarchy system which was followed.
This means that within a church, there were many individuals who were placed according to ranks.

The Medieval church played a huge role in Medieval Ages in which it was completely in control over the people. Whether you were a peasant, a serf, a king or noble, the church dominated over all. The people were taught in the early ages that the only way to get to heaven was if the Roman Catholic Church allowed them.
