How was the outcome different from what the people feared always?
Answers
Answer:
Imagination and insecurity.
Our mind is capable of coming up with a million possibilities for any given situation and most of those thoughts tend to be heavily negative and highly unlikely at times. Nevertheless we get so fixated on those possibilities that we let it grow in our mind.
For example, when we are going to give a speech we think about possibilities like what if I mess it up? what if they don't laugh at my jokes? what if i go blank?what if I trip and fall?
Very few of us (definitely not me) think of positive outcomes like - its going to go great, I will get a good feedback.
My family are constantly worried that someone will rob our house. It is important to mention that we live in an apartment in a highly safe area and robberies are unheard of. Till date my entire family has never traveled together. They always ensure that at least one person stays back at home.
From kindergarten till I completed my college, my dad accompanied me and waited till I boarded the school/college bus.
My grandparents house is just across the street from my parents' house. Whenever I had to visit their house or return to my house after 8 it was mandatory that I be accompanied by my father. According to them crossing the street after 8 was dangerous!
Starting from something as simple as travelling or delivering our speech, our fertile mind gives way to these huge magnified probabilities of what could be that we lose sight of the actual thing itself.
