In England and Germany workers formed associations to fight for better living and working conditions. They also set up funds to help members in distress. In Germany these associations worked with the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and helped to win parliamentary seats. By 1905,socialists and trade unionists formed "labour party".
Lenin felt that peasants were not one united group . Some were poor and others were rich ; some worked as labourers while others as capitalists. Due to this 'differentiation' , the Social Democratic Party was divided into Mensheviks and Bolsheviks.
