How was Tom's tooth extracted?

This question is from one of the chapters of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer ! And Aunt Polly is one of of the character of this story who cared a lot for Tom !
Now , how did aunt Polly extract the loose tooth ?
Aunt Polly applied a home remedy to extract the loose tooth . She asked for a fire ball and a thread . Tom was on bed . Then she took the thread and tied one end to tom's tooth and the other one to the side of the bed and then she took the fire ball and cut the thread with it .. and the loose tooth came out with the thread !
