Enjoys life. When the sun is low in the sky, ie sunrise/sunset, the light from the Sun has to pass through a lot more of the Earths atmosphere to reach our eyes than it does when it is overhead at noon. The particles in the atmosphere do a mixture of absorbing, reflecting and refracting the light from the Sun.
