Carbon dioxide is a collourless, odourless, tasteless gas. So it cannot be tasted. It turns limewater milky and has no effect on acidified potassium dichromate or potassium permanganate solution.

calcium hydroxide, or limewater, will turn milky/cloudy when carbon dioxide is bubbled through it. keep the gas contained in a test tube. than, light a splint ( a stick of wood ) ........ the calcium hydroxide solution react with the carbon dioxide to form calcium hydroxide and water.
