Diamond is actually an allotrope of carbon which is an element which naturally exists in nature.Diamond differs from carbon only because of its structure and placement of atoms. While both graphite and diamond are allotropes of carbon, diamond seems shiny because of its many facets which graphite is black and dark and is used in pencil leads.
