Akbar's interaction with people of different faiths made him realize that religious scholars who emphasized ritual and dogma were often bigots. He realised that their teachings created divisions and disharmony amongst his subjects. Finally Akbar framed his own idea. He introduced the idea of sulh-i kul or 'universal peace'. This idea of tolerance did not discriminate between people of different religions in his realm. Abul Fazi helped Akbar in framing a vision of governance around this idea of sulh-i kul.
