The candidates are elected by the Legislative Assembly of States and Union territories by means of Single transferable vote through Proportional representation. In other words, we elect the MLAs and the MLAs elect the Rajya Sabha members (who arenominated by their political party).

Answer:

Lok Sabha:

the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha,

Rajya Sabha :

Rajya Sabha members are elected indirectly by the people, that is, by the MLAs.
