Mrs. Van Daan's real name was Auguste Van Pels. Mrs. Van Daan was initially kind but later becomes a villain and petty in Anne' s diary.
She heavily criticises Anne's upbringing and is jealous of Mrs. Frank. She also flirts with Mr. Frank and says vicious things about Mrs. Frank.
