In most of the revolt the leader were arrested and kept behind bars. Eg: Birsa Munda died in prison in 1900. The leader were trapped and shot dead by the Britishers. The Adivasis were armed only with bows and arrows. They could not stand before the gun - bearing British army. Eg: In aficere battle 150 santhals were killed and their revolt was finally suppressed.
