The PAATHSHALA system was prevelant during the pre- colonial rule. in the paathshala system, the following happenned:
1)There was no fixed fees
2)gurus had control over what to be taught
3)generally classes took place under trees
4)There was Rote learning involved
5)Oral classes and education was prevalant.
6)Most students did not attend school during harvest season.
7)All the students were boys.
