How wes the custom of storytelling especially fatiguing on Saturdays?

Story telling to Jo had become quite fatiguing for Jack because Jo never fell asleep in naps any more; she had grown young and didn't fall asleep. Earlier when she was two or three years old, she would fall asleep listening to the story.
