It is done in following steps.
# Step I -
Ethylene tetrabromide is treated with strong base like KOH to get ethylene.
(Br)2C=C(Br)2 + 4KOH --> CH2=CH2 + 4KBr
# Step II -
Ethylene on dehydrogenation by NaNH2 gives acetylene.
CH2=CH2 + 2NaNH2 --> CH≡CH + 2Na + 2NH3
