Differences among thyroid and the parathyroid gland based on location and their functions are :
On the basis of location
1. Parathyroid glands are located on the back region of the gland called thyroid gland. The parathyroid glands are four in number which are located on the surface of the 2 lobes of the thyroid gland.
2. Thyroid gland is present in the front region of the windpipe of our body.
On the basis of functions
1. A hormone named parathhormone is released by the parathyroid glands which is responsible for regulating or maintaining the level of calcium ions in our blood.
2. The thyroid gland releases a hormone named thyroid hormone which controls the metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates.
