if the powder sticks on your hand it means that it is chalk powder and if it will not stick you will feel some rough powder then its a salt.. Take a glass of water add that powdery substance in to it. stir it well.if, that substance dissolve easily so,it's a salt or if turns in to white color then it's a chalk powder.
