How will you prove that acid gives h+ ions only in the presence of water?

No, acid not only gives H+ ions but also gives OH- ions in aqueous solution. But it shows acidic properties because  the no. of H+ ions is more than OH- ions. So you cant prove that acid only gives H+ ions.
